Student Course Records
The City & Guilds Archive Services teams are experts at archiving, sorting, filing and finding certificates and syllabuses. So if you’ve lost your certificate, or you were in college in 1975 and you just want to know what the standard is today against the National Framework - then rest assured, our teams can help.
All the below services can be requested online using our application form.
Please note that paper and email applications will no longer be accepted for archive search requests from learners.
Confirming your qualification
As well as providing you with a new certificate, we can also confirm (on request), any City & Guilds qualification you may have received. This service is often required when you have a new job offer. We do this by searching our archives for the relevant information, and on our company headed paper, we will write to the relevant person, confirming the qualification you received, and the date it was awarded.

Qualification comparisons
Our comparison service is to enable to someone to confirm the qualification they have received in the past and provide mapping, where available, to the modern equivalent. We search our archives to ensure that when we provide a comparison letter to a candidate it matches the certificate they hold.
If you are currently studying for a City & Guilds qualification, or you have recently completed one, then our qualifications comparison webpage should help you understand what your City & Guilds qualification is comparable to in terms of academic qualifications.

Course Syllabuses
A course syllabus covers everything you have studied on a course in order to get your qualification. In many cases this will not only be a list of the units you will have covered, but also a breakdown of the knowledge and abilities the units should have provided you with.
Request Online Form >
Once the form is received one of our archive specialists will carry out a search for the relevant course, or part of a course, depending on your enquiry. We do not, however, send original copies of the syllabus - many of our documents are old and exist purely as part of our archives. Instead, we will provide you with a photocopy of the information you require.
Important note
This service only deals with old courses that are no longer running. If you require the syllabus for a more recent course, perhaps one you are currently studying or have recently finished then you can either contact the college where the course was taken, or for further advice you can contact the customer service department by phone on +44 (0) 192 4930 801 (8am-6pm Monday-Friday UK time).
Transcripts
City & Guilds does not keep transcripts of awards.

It costs £50 to carry out a search of the City & Guilds archives and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to provide you with a course syllabus.
If a search for your records proves unsuccessful, we will issue you with an email confirming the outcome of our search.
Each payment is for one search only and is non-refundable, even where a search is unsuccessful. Unfortunately, there are some periods that our records do not cover and in such instances the fee will be returned.
