Celebrating EPA success, together

Leading the way in EPA certifications in partnership with our employers and providers.

EPA statistic imageAccording to the latest report published by Ofqual on apprenticeships, we are leading the way in end-point assessment (EPA) certifications.

The report states City & Guilds of London Institute delivered the highest number of completed EPAs from March 2023 to April 2024, with 18,965 EPAs completed, equivalent to 13.1% of total completed EPAs.

At City & Guilds, we champion apprenticeships and know the impact they can have on individuals, economies, and society. Central to our purpose, they help support and develop people within the workplace and provide opportunities to earn and learn simultaneously.

Our recent City & Guilds Foundation Impact Report found that 83% of apprentices surveyed self-declared as employed in a relevant sector within three months of completing their apprenticeship. The report also states that 63% of apprentices were able to earn more money after completing their apprenticeship. Figures such as these reinstate the power of apprenticeships and how they play a key role in fulfilling skills gaps and accelerating career opportunities.

End-point assessment marks the culmination of the apprenticeship programme, where apprentices showcase the knowledge, skills and behaviours gained through their learning journey. After successfully completing EPA, apprentices can confidently make the next step into industry. Across 64 apprenticeship standards, from engineering and construction to leadership and management, City & Guilds has certified almost 85,000 EPAs since we began awarding in 2017.

Mandy Smith, Executive Director Customer Solutions imageMandy Smith, Executive Director Customer Solutions at City & Guilds, said, “Behind every successful apprentice are teams of people who are committed to supporting their achievement and potential. While we celebrate the latest number attributed to City & Guilds, the reality is that these assessments would not be achieved without the hard work of the employers and providers we work with. City & Guilds would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers who have worked tirelessly to support every one of the apprentices that we have certified.”

Aiming to hit the 100,000 EPA mark in Summer 2025, City & Guilds will also be the headline partner at the new Apprenticeships and Training Conference in Liverpool in March 2025, where we will be exploring the future of apprenticeships and the implications of the new Governments Growth and Skills Levy.
