Recognising the significance of meeting these local skills needs and supporting skills development in the region, Hong Kong Metropolitan University Li Ka Shing School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKMU LiPACE) has embarked on a mission to enhance its training offerings. Their goal is to ensure the highest quality education for their students and contribute to local skills development in Hong Kong.
In their quest for excellence, HKMU LiPACE identified the need to align their training programmes with international standards in order to cater to the demands of the local workforce. They sought to provide their students with recognised qualifications and equip them with the practical skills and competencies required by industries. This commitment to quality and relevance led them to collaborate with City & Guilds, a renowned global leader in skills development.
City & Guilds brings a wealth of expertise in assessing and accrediting training programmes, ensuring that they meet world-class standards. Recognising the value of vocational education in addressing industry-specific needs, HKMU LiPACE partnered with City & Guilds to elevate the standard of their training programmes and provide their students with the best opportunities for success.
Through a collaborative effort, HKMU LiPACE and City & Guilds undertook a rigorous evaluation process. City & Guilds assessed various aspects of HKMU LiPACE's training programmes, including curriculum content, training facilities, faculty expertise, and overall quality assurance mechanisms. This evaluation aimed to ensure that the training programmes not only met the required standards but also aligned with industry expectations.
The outcome of this collaborative evaluation was the granting of City & Guilds' assurance, a globally recognised quality benchmark, to HKMU LiPACE's Assured Diploma in Civil Engineering and Assured Diploma in Pet Care and Animal-Assisted Therapy programmes. This accreditation serves as a testament to the university's commitment to delivering high-quality vocational education.
"We are proud to be associated with an esteemed organisation like City & Guilds, which has a steeped history in accrediting vocational qualifications both in the UK and internationally. This accreditation reaffirms our commitment to delivering high-quality vocational education and preparing our students for successful careers. We look forward to further collaborations that will benefit our students, faculty, and the industries we serve." said Dr. Benjamin CHAN Tak-yuen, Dean of HKMU LiPACE.
The benefits of this accreditation are twofold. Firstly, it enhances the reputation of HKMU LiPACE as a provider of excellence in vocational education. Prospective students seeking recognised qualifications can be confident in the university's commitment to delivering education and training of the highest standard. Secondly, the accreditation reinforces the university's dedication to equipping graduates with the practical skills and competencies demanded by industries, thereby increasing their employability.
By collaborating with City & Guilds, HKMU LiPACE has ensured that its training programmes align with international standards, providing students with a competitive edge in the job market. The partnership not only elevates the standard of vocational education but also contributes to the growth and development of the region's workforce. By addressing the skills needs of industries and providing high-quality vocational education, this collaboration creates opportunities for students to acquire the skills and knowledge required for successful careers.
