Assessment arrangements for 2023
02 November 2022
Ofqual has published new guidance announcing the arrangements for grading exams and assessments in summer 2023 and autumn 2022.
This guidance includes a section on vocational and technical qualifications. We have reviewed the guidance and will take account the approach used in general qualifications so that learners taking our Technical Qualifications are not advantaged or disadvantaged in comparison.
Ofqual has also published a consultation on ensuring the resilience of the qualifications system in 2023: GCSE, AS, A level, Project and AEA. Whilst this consultation does not apply to our Technical Qualifications, we will be reviewing the outcomes to see if they could be applied to exams for these qualifications.
End of adaptations
Following the updates to assessment arrangements from Ofqual, adaptations will not be available for assessments taken in the September 2022 to August 2023 academic year.
Centres must deliver the qualification as described in the qualification handbook.
Some services or changes to procedures that began as adaptations can continue, where they meet Ofqual’s General Conditions of Recognition in full, as well as any qualification-specific requirements. For example, The Remote Invigilation Service and remote EQA activities will continue.
We will continue to update you with further information and guidance as we move through the academic year.
