Its latest episode discusses the challenges associated with Menopause, both for individuals and organisations.

With over 4 million women over the age of 50 employed in the UK, the impact of menopause on the workforce is hugely significant. Typically affecting women between the ages of 45 -55, menopause symptoms can have serious impact on wellbeing and performance at work.

For some women, the symptoms can be debilitating, and can leading to some leaving their jobs. Meanwhile, organisations can be faced with the loss of workforce talent and expertise.

However, many workplaces lack adequate policies and resources to support women affected by menopause.

Hosted by Bryony Kingsland, City & Guilds’ Stakeholder Partnerships & Policy Manager, the latest ‘Navigating the UK Skills Challenges’ podcast explores:

  • The range of symptoms associated with menopause – and common misconceptions
  • How organisations can support and retain those affected
  • Lifestyle advice and available support for individuals experiencing symptoms

The episode includes insights from Charmain Bucho, Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at City & Guilds, and popular speaker Natalie Greenslade, a registered nutritionist and founder of GingerGreen Nutrition, a dedicated nutritional therapist specialising in women's health.

Interviewed for the podcast, Charmain Bucho said:

Workplace wellbeing is hugely important, and Menopause is an important part of women’s journey in the workplace.

For us as an organisation it’s vital that we continue to provide training and support for line managers and staff to ensure that people experiencing menopause can perform at their best.”
