This qualification provides the knowledge, understanding and skills required for the design, installation and maintenance of electrical energy storage systems (EESS). 

It includes a range of relevant outcomes covering statutory legislation applicable to EESS, the principles of batteries and EESS, how to specify and design EESS, installation, inspection and testing, and handover of an EESS.

This qualification aligned with the MCS requirements.
This qualification is designed as CPD for qualified electricians who wish to understand the requirements for design, installation and maintenance of Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS), typically within a domestic or small-commercial setting. 

By completing this qualification, electricians can enhance their expertise in regard to Electrical Energy Storage Systems (EESS) , with the aim of ensuring safe and efficient installations.

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?
The qualification covers 

key documentation and legislation in relation to design and installation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and electrical energy storage systems (EESS)
  • features of working safely with EESS
  • the characteristics of EESS, components and architectures
  • design and installation considerations for EESS
  • elements of testing, commission and handover of EESS
  • understanding of the use of micro-generation and EESS as part of prosumer’s installations      
Candidates will be assessed by on-demand multiple choice tests (available through the City & Guilds assessment platform e-volve) and practical assignments.
