Designed to reflect the current and future needs of employers, these qualifications provide a solid grounding in the sales theory and sales techniques. You will cover the essential skills and knowledge required to identify and meet customers needs, identify relevant regulatory requirements, apply legislation and adopt ethical behaviour in sales related activities.
The Certificate in Principles of Sales has been developed for those starting out in their career in sales, as well as experienced professionals.

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

These qualifications cover all the essential principles and techniques of sales such as:

  • Understanding how to operate in a sales environment
  • Understanding the techniques and processes for effective selling
  • Understanding the legal, regulatory and ethical requirements in the sales or marketing environment
  • Principles of personal responsibilities and working in a business environment.

You can also choose optional units to reflect your particular requirements and career path. These include:

  • Understand business awareness in sales
  • Principles of presentations and demonstrations in sales
  • Principles of selling at trade fairs and exhibitions.

This is a classroom-based qualification. All units are assessed through assignments.

Which level is right for me?

Level 2
Ideal for you if you are moving up the career ladder or looking to develop some specialist skills such as sales processes and techniques and principles of online selling.

Level 3
You're progressing in your career and have significant knowledge and experience. At this level you are required to demonstrate greater autonomy in completing tasks, organising activities and contributing to decision making.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment.

You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.

Centres have automatic approval to offer these qualifications if they currently offer the 6819 Level 3 Sales, or the 6849 Level 2 Sales and Telesales.

There are no eligibility requirements.

Level 2

Ideal for you if you are moving up the career ladder or looking to develop some specialist skills.

This level comprises mandatory and optional units, including:

  • Understand how to operate in a sales environment
  • Understand techniques and processes for effective selling
  • Understanding business awareness in sales
  • Principles of presentations and demonstrations in sales.
