Vehicle Parts and Vehicle Sales (VCQs) (4150)

These qualifications are aimed at anyone working in dealerships, specialist sales centres and independent garages in a vehicle sales or vehicle parts role who would like to prove to employers and customers that their performance meets the standard expected of a competent vehicle sales/parts professional.

Vehicle parts personnel ensure that the right stock of vehicle parts is available when and where it is needed by customers and at the lowest cost.

Vehicle sales personnel are responsible for selling new and used vehicles.

These qualifications are for anyone developing a career in the motor industry. You will need a current job or work placement where you can demonstrate you are competent performing a vehicle parts or vehicle sales role. If you don't have a suitable job or work placement, you could do one of our VRQs in Vehicle Parts or Vehicle Sales (4151).

General Information

What Is Involved In Studying This Course?

Main duties for vehicle parts personnel are: helping customers to order the correct vehicle part, packing and loading parts, monitoring stock levels and raising invoices for parts sold.

Main duties for vehicle personnel are: inspecting and selling new and used vehicles, processing orders, arranging test drives and planning and monitoring sales targets.

You will learn on the job in the work environment. You will usually work with your training provider to review your current skills and find the best way to gain new ones to a high standard, perhaps by trying new things at work, or by studying. Each knowledge unit is assessed with short answer questions and each competency unit is assessed with a portfolio of evidence.

Which Level is right for me?

Level 2
You are working in the automotive industry and have some relevant knowledge and skills, usually from a role where you've been supervised.

Level 3

You have significant experience of the automotive industry and have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge. You work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety and ensuring work meets the required standard.

What Is Involved With Delivering This Course?

To deliver these qualifications you will need suitably qualified staff to carry out training and assessment. You will also need suitable facilities to carry out the required training to enable learners to achieve industry standards.
