Robert Mallender
Robert's extensive expertise in the field allows him to offer education providers the best possible support.
Technical Advisor for Building Services
Robert started as an apprentice carrying out the installation and maintenance of domestic and complex industrial, commercial, mechanical services systems. After performing well as an installation engineer, he progressed into the role of Site Supervisor, managing the design and build contracts for a local authority.
The supervisory role encouraged him to return to further education and whilst completing his higher level qualification in Building Services, Robert was asked to complete some part-time teaching. The move into full-time lecturing came a couple of years afterwards and a shift in career followed. A management role followed on from this point, running a national assessment centre.
This role allowed Robert to transition into consultancy work for awarding organisations, which provided him with in-depth knowledge of the structure of the qualifications and how delivery, support, quality assurance and assessment materials are produced. A full-time role as a Technical Advisor at City & Guilds supporting education providers then came as a seamless progression.
