Technical Advisor for Building Services

Starting as an apprentice electrician in steel works and heavy industry, he progressed from site supervisor to project manager, then contract manager, and eventually director of a successful electrical contracting business. He completed numerous qualifications in electrical inspection, testing, and commissioning, particularly in explosive areas.

Simon was part of the team that built generators for the decommissioning of the Brent Oil field. Transitioning to education, he became a full-time tutor, then head of faculty for Automotive, Engineering, and Construction across two centers.

Simon has worked with City and Guilds in various roles, including technical moderator, examiner, and external quality assurance. His associate roles have enhanced his knowledge of qualification structures, delivery support, assessment methods, and quality assurance.
